Photoshop Workshop – Animation

Using Photoshop we were told how to create simple frame animations using pre-drawn sprite sheets. To animate on photoshop you have to use the timeline feature and hide the different layers of the animation sequence to each frame. For example below is my animation sequence of Sonic The Hedgehog that I got from a sprite sheet online:

Each frame of Sonic’s ‘movement’ is a separate layer which is assigned to a different frame on the timeline. Overall i think that sprite animation is a very simple yet effective platform for animating and it’s definitely something i will try again in the future.
